This well-made amateur film with intertitles chronicles the River Medway, tracing it from its source at Turners Hill to its mouth at Sheerness, capturing the places and industries which line its banks.
In the Medway Valley
A lengthy amateur film with intertitles which charts the course of the River Medway from its source to Aylesford. In addition to filming the ever-changing size and speed of the river, the film-maker gives special attention to the mediaeval stone bridges which straddle it. The people, vessels and animals which populate the river are also filmed.

A film of the Gowlland family showing various activities in the Spring and Summer of 1953. In the spring the children play with the cat in the garden, the family visit Shirley Park Hotel and Ightham Mote. In June the family decorate their home and hold a party for the Queen's Coronation. In July they go to Yardley Court school sports day [Tonbridge], play croquet and relax in the garden.

Film of the Gowlland family on various outings in the Spring and Summer of 1956. The film shows a trip to Tonbridge at Easter and countryside walks. The family then travel to Canterbury and visit relatives. In May they watch the Cambridge 'May Bumps' rowing race, watch a polo match and visit the Newforest. They hold a garden party at home, watch the London to Brighton Veteran car run, visit a Mink Farm and watch a cricket match.

A short film of the Gowlland family on an outing to Tonbridge boys' school where they visit the town, watch a cricket match, and attend the school's 'Skinners' Day' marking the end of Summer term. The intertitle 'With the O'Farells on the Thames' precedes scenes of the Gowlland family boating at Moulsford-On-Thames in Oxfordshire.

The first of these two amateur films contains home movie footage of a bees nest, the historic buildings of Cambridge and a family gathering in the garden of a large house. The second film presents images from Expo Sussex '68, an outdoor exhibition of local interest, including vintage motor vehicles, hot air balloons, bellringers and a helicopter display.
