A collection of scenes of Midhurst, Petersfield, Steyning, Horsham, Portsmouth and Worthing, made during the 1930s and early 1960s. The scenes focus on a woman (sometimes accompanied) visiting these towns, with the features of urban life - transport, shopping and leisure activities - providing a backdrop. Shop and business signage is strongly featured.
[Old Steam Railways]
Film showing the operation of the Midhurst Railways line between Pulborough and Midhurst. The film shows passengers and staff on platforms, level crossings, scenes of the Sussex landscape filmed from the moving trains, and the locomotives themselves. Station stops include Fittleworth, Midhurst, Petersfield, and Partridge Green.
[The Midhurst Line; Petworth to Petersfield]
Steam tains on the Midhurst line calling at rural stations including Selham, Petworth and Fittleworth before reaching Pulborough. The return journey is by 'push-pull train' to Midhurst then on to Petersfield, on the Portsmouth mainline. The film also shows a railtour's arrival at Midhurst where people gather to see one of the last trains on the line.

Scenes showing photographs and period images recaptured on Movietone Super 8 cine-film of the Midhurst Railway line between Petersfield and Midhurst, inter-cut with a title and map of the station locations. This is followed by scenes of the line and a steam engine travelling between the two stations.
The Midhurst Railway
This intertitled compilation of railway scenes shows steam locomotives on the Petersfield to Midhurst line, that includes the last train journey on the Midhurst Line on 6 February 1955. The film shows close up views of locomotives, stations, platforms, a railway tavern and the surrounding countryside. A series of hand drawn titles open this film.

The West Sussex Downsman Railtour visits Midhurst. This brief film shows steam trains departing; some of the passengers are dressed in Victorian costume. The second part of the film shows the Midhurst line's brick overbridge at Ramshill - partially demolished.

Footage taken by amateur film-maker B. C. Suter while following the (ldecommissioned) Midhurst Railways line [?] to Petersfield Station.
