A compilation of films of local interest which which were exhibited in a newsreel format at the Capitol Cinema in Walton-on-Thames by its manager Clifford Spain. The films, from 1922, 1931 and 1932, record community events including an RSPCA horse show and several garden fetes. The camera pays much attention to recording the visitors who frequent the events.

Joe Beckett’s Wedding

This silent newsreel features the wedding of boxer Joseph Beckett. The opening title reads: "Worthing; Joe Beckett's Wedding; Thousands cheer our popular, heavy-weight Champion and his pretty bride; Pathé Gazette". Large crowds are seen outside St. Paul's Church on Chapel Road. The film ends with a brief shot of Joe Beckett and his wife smiling.
[Red Deer at Warnham Court Park]
A combination of black and white and tinted film showing scenes of a Red Deer herd in the wooded Warnham Park estate, with close-ups of several animals. The final few seconds of the film appears to show a derailed train and men assessing the wreckage.

An excursion on the English Riviera
This short professionally made film features the south coast towns of Brighton, Hastings and Eastbourne. With the inclusion of intertitles, the film takes the form of a fictional journey made on the Brighton Belle from London to Brighton. Places of interest to the visitor are featured in each town, including the Royal Pavilion, Hastings Castle and Eastbourne Pier.
[Warnham Court: Family with Baby]
A family group hold a baby whilst posing for the camera on a garden bench. Colonel Brander holds a dog as the baby's mother 'Biddy' holds the baby with her husband 'Joe'. In portrait a grandmother or a nanny [?] stand at the main door with a domestic nurse as both turn and enter the house. These scenes also feature at the end of Joe and Biddy Lucas's wedding film on TID 4902.
This is the earliest example of a seaside publicity film in Screen Archive South East’s collection, dating from the mid 1920s. The film promotes Margate as a most fashionable seaside resort. The film is tinted and toned and has intertitles throughout.

[Marrakech Street Scenes; Heron]
Footage of Marrakech taken by airline pilot Captain William Armstrong. The film contains images of street markets, locals, and the plains beyond the city walls. There is also footage of nesting heron, and of White-European travellers in the garden of their hotel.
