Sussex People's Scrapbook 1938
A film illustrating and promoting the activities of the Communist Party in Sussex in 1938. The film includes scenes of demonstrations on Brighton's sea front; the anniversary of the Russian Revolution; and men returning to Brighton, from fighting in the Spanish Civil War. Intertitles are used throughout the film.

This short film opens with a sow and her piglets in a pen followed by field workers harvesting a vegetable crop (sugarbeet or turnip) by hand. Horse and carts are used to move the vegetables around the fields.

This short colour film shows a man driving a caterpillar tractor pulling down trees to clear a field in preparation for it to be farmed. The men use dry straw as kindling to start fires under the felled trees.

This colour film opens with the family group having tea, socialising together and wandering around in the garden. The second film features the Norcon Works industrial units outside Chichester, with mixed stacks of concrete pipes and moulded items grouped in the yard.

This colour film demonstrates the processes of constructing a Norcon spun concrete pipe: machinery is used to press the concrete into the moulds and then move the pipes to a drying area so the moulds can be removed and the pipes allowed to harden.

This 1942 film shows work on a farm to harvest the silage crop and load it into the silos. The film then focuses on workers and machines at a textile mill in Lancashire.
This short amateur film mainly features brickmaking at Naccolt near Wye in Kent. Men are seen operating machinery to cut the clay bricks and digging clay from trenches; dried bricks are arranged in rows outside. The film also includes a brief shot of a tractor ploughing a field and members of the Brocklehurst family picking flowers in a bog near Mersham.
Sir Stafford and Lady Cripps visit aircraft factory during the Anti-Scrap Campaign
This professionally made film features the visit of Lord Stafford and Lady Cripps to an aircraft factory during the anti-scrap campaign. Whilst there they speak with workers and trainees and look around the Aircraft Service Shop. The film was possibly made to help encourage the public to recycle waste scrap metal and so that they could see how it was being used as part of the war effort.

This film shows highlights of the Norcon Works, Chichester and the family garden at Herne Bay. Views of hundreds of concrete pipes stacked in the yard; a Rabier crane lifts large pipes onto a trailer, with views of several men at work and of the industrial sand works; several warehouses fill the view.
