[Camp at Walton; Coronation Parade; School Sports]
The Headmaster of Mile Oak Approved Boys School films his pupils aboard a paddle steamer, and the Martello campsite at Walton-on-the-Naze. The boys are later seen participating in a cross-country run and in various Sports Day events, including tug-of-war, a sack race, and the long jump - the victors are awarded prizes. The inhabitants of Portslade mark Coronation Day, 12th May 1937, with a parade of floats.
This film shows the Burns family boating on a river, followed by a series of sporting events that includes a group of girls playing a game of Netball in an enclosed court (?) and two woman trampolining in front of a gathered crowd (?). The film closes with the children riding a merry-go-round and miniature train ride (at a Butlin's Resort), inter cut with wider shots of the rest of the fairground.
[Butlin's Holiday in Clacton]
This film shows a Burns family holiday to the Butlin's Holiday club in Clacton, playing in a playground, on a miniature railway and on several fairground style rides. The children race model boats on a small pond, before making a visit to Clacton Beach to build sand castles. The film closes with shots of a large crowd gathered around the main swimming pool at the Butlin's Holiday club, to watch a swimming competition.
[Butlin's Holiday Camp Minehead; Dunster Castle]
This film shows a Burns family holiday to the Butlin's Holiday club in Minehead, that includes a visit to Dunster Castle in Somerset. The children play on the amusement rides that includes a mono-rail car ride, motor boats, a two tier aeroplane and motorcycle merry-go-round and Wurlitzer style ride.
