[Godalming Church Parade & Ambulance Presentation]

These local newsreels record the citizens of Godalming at two official gatherings. The first is a pre-First World War civil procession; the second is a service of dedication in which the town presents a motorized First World War ambulance to the Red Cross.

[Christmas Shopping]; Surrey Women War Workers; The Path of Duty was the Path of Glory

A compilation of three separate films made in or near Godalming, Surrey during the early twentieth century. The first shows shoppers on the busy High Street in Godalming, the second shows women from the newly established Women's Land Army in 1917 demonstrating ploughing skills, and the third shows a memorial commemorating RMS Titanic’s Chief Radio Telegraphist.

[Wedding]

A short film of a 1920s wedding. The film shows traffic in the road outside a church, bridesmaids arriving carrying flowers and the arrival of the bride. The bride and groom emerge from the church after the ceremony and leave in a car. The bridesmaids and guests pose on the steps of the church for the camera.

A Fireman’s Wedding

A short intertitled film showing scenes from a 'fireman's wedding' at an urban church. The newly weds are seen exiting the church under an arch of fire axes. The couple then leave in the decorated fire engine.

[Home at Shanghai [?]; Trip to Hong Kong; Armistice Day]

This film opens with the Simpsons filming each other outside a house and the couple aboard a boat, playing games on deck. The next film shows highlights of an Armistice Day memorial event in Central Hong Kong. At the Cenotaph officers and men lay wreaths, surrounded by armed forces veterans and spectators.

Bexhill Pageant

The first part of the film shows the mayor and other dignitaries laying wreaths at the town’s war memorial, followed by a parade through the streets. The second part of the film shows scenes from a pageant dramatising historical events associated with Bexhill. Intertitles introduce each scene.

[The Kent Messenger Newsreel]

A three part compilation showing Pilot Sir Alan Cobham preparing for his flight in a Shorts Bristol Seaplane to the Belgian Congo. Scenes from the Thanet Air Race Cup, and crowds gathering at Mote Park in Maidstone to see the “Kent Messenger” Ford car presented to Mr W.H. Frost by the Mayor. The online video includes an audio commentary by Dr Frank Gray.

Various scenes of children and other family members parading around a garden. A scene of men wearing morning suits (probably prior to a wedding). Various scenes of children playing, a baby being bounced and a toddler playing.

[Youth Parade; NSDAP meeting]; [Youth parade; Gymnastic Display; Performance]

This black and white film features scenes of a parade by the Hitler Youth; scenes of a NSDAP meeting and several members of the Hitler Youth undertaking physical exercises and street performances.

[Garden Scenes; Wedding; Family Scenes at Sandbanks]

This black and white film opens with family scenes featuring Austin Reed in a garden with the family, followed by scenes of a family church service wedding and a family holiday to Sandbanks, Dorset (?). The family relax on the beach, swim in the sea and enjoying a sea fishing trip aboard a boat.

A Cremation Bali

This edited and titled film shows a traditional Balinese cremation ceremony. Every aspect of the ceremony is shown in detail (with descriptive intertitles) from the extensive preparations to the final stage where the ashes are taken out to sea.
