[The Seasons at Otford]
In this film, Mr. Newman documents a year in Otford, filming the countryside around Otford, as the seasons change over the year.
This is the earliest example of a seaside publicity film in Screen Archive South East’s collection, dating from the mid 1920s. The film promotes Margate as a most fashionable seaside resort. The film is tinted and toned and has intertitles throughout.

This documentary records the manual work done on Kent farms between spring and autumn, namely the harvesting of corn and hops in an era before farming became fully automated.
A selection of scenes of Susan, Mr. and Mrs. Rudd's first born child, as a young girl playing in the garden with her parents, the staff and family pets. Autumn scenes of Susan and Christopher, her younger brother, close the film.
Items From the Here and There
A selection of films compiled with intertitles by Dr. Victor Don, including bought-in films of South America, golf techniques and animals, and his own footage of the boys and his family. The reel was first shown to Ashford and Kingsmorth Beavers and Scouts in 1933.
Further scenes filmed in the family garden and compiled by Dr. MacFie in Autumn and Winter 1935. Family members dress up, play with the new puppy and take tea in the garden in Autumn and Winter scenes.

Seasonal imagery of English nature has been edited into a linear format, tracing the passing of a year. Intertitles quoting lines of classical poetry introduce the different scenes.
