Summary

This edited black and white and colour film shows the Corder Family on Holiday in Dorset. The family take a boat trip to/from the Poole coast, spend time on the beach at Sandbanks and exploring the rural countryside.

Description

The film opens with black and white material of the Corder family sat in a passenger compartment aboard a boat or ferry(?). They are then seen on a beach and then sat in the living room of at their holiday home, smoking or knitting, whilst the children play in the garden. Coastal scenes of the family on a fishing boat follow, with shots of the Poole coastline(?) and the Sandbanks spit. The Sandbanks to Shell Bay Chain Ferry is seen in the background several times throughout the film.

A group of fishermen drag in a haul of fishing nets with their catch from a small boat. The family, plus others, watch from the beach. The children play with some flat fish on a line and show them to the camera. (Similar film in colour is seen at the end of the reel.)

The family are next seen on the beach at Sandbanks, eating a picnic. A young toddler makes a toothy grin at the camera, whilst another plays with some stones on the beach. A second fishing boat is seen on the water ('PE78') with two men hauling a net onto the deck.

The next sequence shows the family arriving at a Motor park (?) in their car. They go for a stroll in a wooded area and play on a swing.

The final colour film is similar in nature, providing extended material of the family on the beach at Sandbanks watching the fishermen on the beach, a close-up of a haul of flat fish on the beach and the family paddling in the sea.
