Scenes from a sports day in Orpington in July 1913. Races include the steeplechase, sprints and an egg and spoon race, among the more unusual competitions.

A title card reads "Scenes and Incidents at Orpington Athletic Sports. Thursday July 17th 1913. Taken exclusively for the Orpington Picture Palace." Shop wares are shown before several traps are seen passing down a street, decorated with foliage. A boy cycles past with a basket round his neck. The camera pans across groups of men standing around with a small audience behind a rope. Races begin beside large tents and crowds. Boys and girls race against each other, the runners who win are pulled aside by the organizers. Male runners with cigarettes reach a line of women who fasten ties around their necks. Another race is run, in which men haul bicycles over a large hurdle before continuing through a maze of fencing. Women guide men with paper bags over their heads through an obstacle course. A woman stands with her baby in a fancy bonnet. Further women with babies in their arms follow. A steeplechase is run, followed by an egg and spoon race.
