This colour and black and white film shows scenes of two children and a toddler playing with a dog and a cat at Spratling Court Farm, followed by scenes of a family gathering at Finglesham. Scenes of the family celebrating Christmas together at Spratling Court, shows several interior shots of the children in the living room playing and opening presents (?). The film ends with he group bringing in a Christmas tree from the garden.


"1946 Spratling Playing with Cinders"

The film opens with shots of a young boy and a large Spaniel dog (Cinders) playing in the garden. A girl and boy join in. In colour, a toddler, wearing a blue bonnet, pushes a wheelbarrow and sits on the pathway picking the flowers from the borders. The toddler stands, then at high-speed, crawls along the path, the camera struggles to keep up with the child. The shot cuts to the toddler on a grassy lawn where he crawls at speed across the grass and pushes a ride-on horse toy. A young boy joins him with a white cat, which he tries to make walk on its back legs.

"1946 Family gathering Finglesham"

A family gathering in a garden. The shot pans around to show the group sitting together on the grass in summer clothing, and playing on a toy car. Portrait shots show several children gathered around step adder in the garden.

"1946 Spratling Christmas time"

An interior view of a living room in a house. A baby sits on a rug, whilst a young girl sits on the sofa next to a pram (out of focus and dark). In the dining room, a young boy sits at a table playing (out of focus and dark) as the baby crawls around under one of the chairs.

In a garden, a man carries through a small pine Christmas tree accompanied by two children and the dog. The group set the tree in a large tub. This is followed by shots of two children playing in the garden with a spade (faded shots hard to make out action).
