An artistic film with original music featuring bread production processes at the J. Lyons & Co. Bakery in Crawley made by a student of the Guildford School of Art.

A 'Ranks Flour' van makes its way through Crawley to deliver at the bakery. The full process from off-loading the flour though to the mixing, prooving, shaping, baking, packaging and stacking is shown. Each step is filmed in close-up from different angles focussing on the machinery and products. Original music plays throughout and reflects the movements in vision and the speed variations (some in slow motion).

The film ends with an external view of the bakery very early morning with Lyons Superbread vans being loaded up by forklift trucks.

A black and white still image taken from TID 8264, showing a Ranks flour delivery van on its way to the Lyons Bakery in Crawley, West Sussex. The image has the films title superimposed over the top that reads 'The Cine Group Presents Bread Beat' in white text.
