Summary

A film of local and family scenes filmed in the 1950s, that includes a Christmas celebration, a rugby game and family boating activity, followed by a second family scene with two young children learning to sit, stand and walk. Other scenes include the children playing in the garden, riding a horse, visiting a swimming pool and riding a miniature railway. The film also includes a brief shot of a "Le Pou Duchel" aircraft on an airfield.

Description

A family Christmas celebration opens the film, with the children opening presents, lighting candles and sitting down to have a family Christmas meal.

The second seqence shows a Rugby match (featuring the Hurstpierpoint mens' team ?), intercut with a brief shot of a woman in a dress wearing a veil (?), before returning to the rugby match.

Various scenes show: portrait shots of a teenager in an cadet's uniform; boys in a boat on a river letting a girl off at the dockside; a car arriving at a house, with a woman and girl steeping out; views of a lake with a windmill, with the family aboard a motorboat (possibly the Norfolk Broads?); and a view of a weir.

This is followed by a portrait of a baby trying to crawl on grass and sitting with its mother (some damage to the film). Intertitle: "L.Warre[n] Present[s]." This is followed by a new-born baby in a pram, a woman writing the name 'Alice' in the snow (?) and the woman pushing the baby in the pram.

A toddler is seen in the family garden, riding a wooden toy horse on the lawn being held by the child's parents (?).

A compilation of short shots at several locations follows to include a young child being taught how to swim in a pool, another child riding in a carriage pulled by a donkey at the beach (possibly Southport Pier in the background ?); an aircraft: "Le Pou Duchel", preparing to take off on an airfield; the family at a large house (?) with a child sitting with its mother in a garden and a cricket match in play, seen in reverse and upside down. The film ends with a brief shot of a child on the beach in full winter clothing, playing in the sand with a pier (Southwold, Suffolk?) in the background.
