A young girl, Lin Lewis, runs towards the camera, her feet slipping on the icy path (note: opening scenes are underexposed). Lin, who was born in 1935, and her brother Tim, who was born in 1934, chase one another in the garden on a sunny day. Lin wears a cotton smock and ribbons in her hair, her brother wears short trousers, a shirt and tie, his scouting uniform. The young girl skips and bounces in on the lawn. while her brother does forward rolls. Lin joins in, attempting a forward roll with difficulty. Two young girls stand together, one carries a wooden basket. They peer into a pram at their newborn sibling. A young boy runs through the garden, going back to retrieve his sister before pulling her across the lawn. Family members take tea in the garden. A small table has been laid with a table cloth, tea pots, cake and jam. They laugh together.
