Summary

Various scenes that include the amusements, promenade lift and Volk's Electric Railway buildings, land train and amusements on the seafront; filmed on a Bank Holiday weekend in Brighton.

Description

The film opens with a static shot of the lift at Madeira Drive, seen from the elevated promenade above the beach. A Volk's Electric Railway train passes below, entering the Paston Place sheds followed by a shot of the Volk's office building - a wooden house style structure set into the cliff side.

At Peter Pan's Playground, shots show several children on the rides that include a truck roller coaster, aeroplane style carousel ride and bumper cars.

Shots follow of a large anchor, displayed by the Volk's railway track as seen from several angles. The Palace Pier can be seen in view behind several of the shots.

A white electric land train, runs between the Volk's Railway and Hove Boundary via Palace Pier, beach deck and West Pier, collecting passengers along the route. A sign on the side of a carriage advertises the fare as: "85p for Adults and 35p for children". A man juggles with a set of fire sticks on the promenade opposite the Royal Albion Hotel. The film closes with individual shots of visitors aboard a large pirate swing ship and people taking rickshaw rides on the lower promenade next to the Aquarium.
