A titled film showing views of the West Pier, Brighton in a state of disrepair. Signs notify visitors of the closure of the pier to undertake emergency repair and restoration work funded by grants and donations.

A series of panoramic views show the West Pier at Brighton, in need of restoration. A notice on the side of one of the buildings reads: 'Stairs closed for restoration works to West Pier. Please use stairs at other side of pier. Sorry for the inconvenience'. The building site below is shown from the promenade.

The shots cut to exterior views of The Grand Hotel, followed by several dark shots of the West Pier. A sign reads: 'The Brighton West Pier Phase 1: Emergency repairs at the seaward end of West Pier and restoration work at the landward end has been made possible by grants from Brighton Borough Council, English Heritage, National Heritage Memorial Fund. The Trust is grateful to these grants and for other donations etc."

The film closes with a montage of shots showing West Pier in close up and the exterior of The Grand Hotel at night.
