Summary

Panning footage of Brighton housing and commercial developments, recently built and under construction, taken by Stanley Dudkin in 1967.

Description

A young girl in a winter coat stands at a housing development in Hove [?]. A young boy rides a go-kart down a steep road as the camera pans towards Brighton Railway Station. Shoppers peer into the windows of clothes shops in Brighton Square, Vanity Fayre and Pollyanna. Above are apartment windows, and a terrace. A man draws or writes on a piece of paper. A couple pass by Fine Records. Building work is underway at the Churchill Square development. A residential street opens onto a glass building, scaffolded and nearing completion. Shoppers walk on the pavement on Western Road. The back of the development just seen is set back behind the street, on which a store, previously a Furriers, is To let. The development is seen from Clarence Square [?]. The camera pans across the building site to Sussex Heights, looming above and silhouetted against the evening sky. The site is seen from Russell Square [?], the street lamps lit at dusk. Interior scenes close the film, as the camera pans around a room with an electric fire, mantelpiece, painting of a lion, lion ornament, and a table and chair
