Documenting the Otford Methodist Children's Church outing to Folkestone and Dymchurch in 1948, this film shows the Newman family with their fellow church members by the seaside.

The film opens with people gathering by coaches for Otford Methodist Children’s Church outing to Folkestone and Dymchurch, 1948. A woman eating two ice creams poses for the camera, after which others queue for ice creams. In the next scene a group of children play in the sea; Margaret Newman plays catch with others. Two men are filmed riding in pedalos, including Mr. Newman who passes by the camera in a pedalo which he shares with another woman. In the next scene, a man dives into a swimming pool, and a man helps a young boy to swim. The following scenes cut to a tea room, where the group sit together having tea and then leave the cafe. The film then cuts to the beach, where the church party sit together; the children paddle in the sea accompanied by their mothers. The camera pans across various groups of people sat together enjoying the beach, and then turns to those who are paddling in the sea, including Margaret. The next frame shows the party leaving the beach, and cuts to a steam train pulling into a station.

The film cuts back to the beach, and a busy outside cafe that is next to the beach. The group then return to the beach, where the children play leap frog. In the next shot some of the party members head down to the sea, where a boat is waiting. The game of leap frog continues, and Mrs. Newman goes paddling with a little girl in the sea. A group of boys splash in the sea, whilst the girls paddle nearby.

The film cuts to a scene in which lots of children wear fancy dress costumes. A crowd of spectators look on, as the children stand in a group and the fancy dress parade files past the camera.
