A newsreel documenting events in and around Reigate in 1959, produced by the North Downs Cinematograph Society.


"North Downs Newsreel". The film includes music, commentary and intertitles (see quotation marks). "Father Christmas Drops in". Scenes of a sleigh and parade. "Air Crash at Newdigate". The scene of a destroyed plane that crashed in the woods near Gatwick Airport carrying the Turkish Prime Minister. "Fire Brigade Display". Lord Lieutenant of Surrey at Reigate Fire Brigade headquarters. Fire trucks dive through town and give demonstrations. "Battlebridge Trophy". Track and field competitions at the Athletic Club track on July 6th. "On Parade". Queens Royal Regiment, the Mayor taking the salute, a march past of ranks of soldiers, a marching band and army vehicles. "Old Folks Fete". The fete's opening ceremony in aid of the Reigate Home of the Elderly. Stalls and visitors, raffle tickets being sold, people picking up their prizes, "Produce", a string orchestra play, a woman plays skittles, "Home Made" jam, "Gifts" and bric-a-brac. "Air Display Nutfield Again". Redhill Aerodrome opening, an air display by biplanes and Tiger Moths. "Redhill F.C. Fete". August bank holiday fete held in aid of charities at the football club. Crowds of visitors and families, amusements, slides, a trapeze artist, games and challenges and fancy dress. "Veteran Car Run". London to Brighton rally in "almost perfect conditions". A series of veteran cars pass by. "We Remember". Remembrance Day service at the war monumen, attended by Mayor and local organisations. A wreath is placed on the monument. The film closes with a poppy seen in close up. "The End"
