This film shows various views of Maidstone, Kent. Including scenes along the Medway river and the town centre, with landmarks such as All Saints Church, Brenchley Gardens, the Municipal Theatre and the Granada Theatre. The film also contains scenes of widespread flooding in the area.


The film includes scenes on the river and around town including: a person wading in the River Medway; a four-man row boat; people fishing; a horse-drawn carriage; a policeman directing traffic and various busy street scenes (including a lorry with huge reels of paper on Maidstone Bridge.

Scenes show a harbour or marina (?); All Saints' Church, market stalls and street sellers; shoppers in the high street; children in a park and various buildings, including 'The Running Horse' public house and sign. A view of a motorway is followed by construction work on the 'New County Library Headquarters for Kent County Council'. Other street scenes include: the Flower Pot Inn (?); terraced houses; Tilling-Stevens Ltd'; industrial (?) buildings along the river; the 'Municipal Theatre'; 'Trustee Savings Bank' and Granada' theatre. At a park (Mote park?)views show a mill pond, children playing and sailing toy boats, and a group of swans.

Further scenes show a shop keeper; 'Di Marco' shop; people playing in the snow and street scenes; 'Curtess Shoes'; Brenchley gardens; a woman painting at an easel; street lamps & neon signs at night. Brenchley Gardens and a War Memorial, a flooded junk yard (?) and further scenes of the swollen river and severe flooding at the Maidstone Bridge, the lumber yard 'Smythe & Drayson Ltd' and Medway Brewery.

Scenes of shopping on the high street; historic buildings; 'Fremlins'; Christmas decorations; street lamps & neon signs at night conclude the film.
