Family scenes in the garden in summer and winter, on a trip to Clacton beach and boat trip. filmed and compiled by Mr. Lambert in the 1930s.

A Lambert girl waters plants and plays on a swing in the family garden in Wanstead. She swings towards the camera, squinting in the sun. Water washes over rocks at the seaside. Women dig in the sand with two children, building a wall around a small pool of water, channeled from the sea. The girls splash around in the water and roll in the wet sand and shallows. The run in circles and jump into the pool from the wall of sand. They sit on the sand, the water rushing over their legs onto the smooth sand. They point out to sea and the glinting water. They eat ice cream on the beach with other family members in deck chairs. They dry off and dress, throwing stones into the water once the tide has come up. Dancers perform on the promenade to spectators in deck chairs. Boat trip scenes follow. The boat, the Glem Gower, passes by a lighthouse. Women and children sit on the boat in coats and hats. The girls play with their mother, who wears a stripy dress. Baby John kicks the breakers in his bathing costume. He plays with a toy boat in the pool built by the girls. His grandmother joins him. The promenade is seen behind. The children are seen playing in the shallows and throwing handfuls of seaweed back into the breakers. An exercise class is in full swing on the beach, participants stretch and move in unison.

Three women walk towards the camera. John Lambert is seen on a tricyle and steering a toy car around the garden. Back at the seaside, he stands with his sister in the shallows, and marches through the water. They smile to the camera, Mr. Lambert filming from the shallows. They sit in the wet sand and shallow water, splashing their hands and feet. A woman and the little boy share an ice cream. John is next seen buried to the waist in the sand. He builds sandcastles with his sister, filling buckets of sand before upturning them on the beach. Both are buried in the sand, patting it down with spades. A typewritten letter is seen briefly, signed "yours faithfully". John and his sister steer a motorboat around a boating lake. Snow scenes follow. They dig in the garden, the snow still raining down, wrapped up warm in boots and hats and coats with hoods. The little girl holds the family tabby cat in her arms, smiling to the camera. A woman now holds a tabby kitten. A waterfall tumbles over a rocky drop.
