This amateur film opens with shots of a visit to Sheffield Park Gardens near Haywards Heath; two women are seen wandering around the gardens and admiring the plants. The second part of the film features the Brighton Carnival and a procession of floats as it passes along Grand Avenue in Hove.
The film opens with shots of two women smelling flower buds at Sheffield Park Gardens, followed by a shot of the house. The women play-up to the camera whilst looking at the plants; close-ups of the plants and shots of the lake. A man and a woman sit on a bench talking to each other; shots of a swan and other people walking around the gardens. Close-ups of the cascade; the two women cross the bridge towards the camera. This section ends with a final brief shot of the lake.
Floats and people in costumes are seen at Brighton Carnival in the opening part of this section of the film. Shots of floats with various themes, followed by a marching band taking part in the parade as it processes along Grand Avenue in Hove. People are gathered at the side of the road to watch. The film cuts to brief shots of a river estuary before returning to Brighton Carnival; shops, public services and charity groups such as the Post Office and Lions are represented by the floats.
