A family film portraying an archaeological dig, Weymouth agricultural show, a tour through Italy including visits to Rome and Naples and various family scenes featuring members of the family and friends.

The opening shot shows a much decorated street in Chichester with a banner that reads 'East Gate'. There is a shot of a mansion house followed by various activities at a sports day in a boys school including a game of 'sack football'. There is a sequence of an archaeological dig site featuring the young David Sadler playing in the site. The next scene briefly shows a horse show, with a carriage race and the debris left after the races. This is followed by scenes at the Weymouth agricultural show. The next section shows the family on a tour of Italy featuring Rome and Naples. This includes; a close up of a fountain in Rome, various shots of the cityscape, inside the Coliseum and the ruins of a temple. Scenes of Naples coastline, bay and harbour are followed by scenes of women walking through the city. Aboard a large ship people play board games and entertaining themselves. The film finishes with the family and friends at their Witterings cottage, David riding a bike in the garden, someone reading 'The Evening News' and a short sequence at the archaeological dig site.
