Summary
This family film focuses on the activities of six year old daughter Pam who plays with a board game and other toys at home, rides a horse on the beach and plays with autumn leaves. She has her first walk to School with her mother, climbs a tree and convalesces after a tonsillectomy.
Description
Pam is first pictured indoors, with her Grandmother (Mrs Staley) looking at a book, playing with a doll, and going outside. Pam is then seen playing a board game with her mother in bed. Outside again, Pam and a boy play on the swing as Elsie pushes them. On the beach at Bognor (?), Pam is seen riding a horse and, at home, she plays with a cat indoors. On a family outing, Pam is seen picking blackberries, skipping with a rope and having a picnic with her mother next to the car. In the countryside, Pam climbs through trees, on logs and throws autumn leaves in the air. This is followed by scenes of several men chopping down trees in the woodland.
The intertitle 'School 1930' indicates what may be Pam's first day at school (?). She is filmed holding up a wooden pencil box and then walks to school with her mother. Scenes of rough seas crashing on the pier and the esplanade are followed by further scenes of family members with Pam walking in the countryside. Pam climbs a tree and performs a dance for the camera.
An intertitle reads 'Goodbye Tonsils July 1931'. Pam sits in bed reading; her mother and a nurse play with her. Pam plays with a wind-up-toy mouse, showing it to the camera whilst Nellie does some sewing. A doctor (?) looks in Pam's mouth and appears to give his approval. Finally, Pam convalesces in a wicker wheelchair in a garden, holding a rabbit and then a cat; Pam laughs.
