An amateur film-maker captures the highlights of a trip to the east coast of the United States by twenty Girl Guides from Chichester. The group is hosted by the Montauk Girl Scouts, who themselves had visited England two years earlier.

The twenty girls and four adults of the Regnum District Girl Guides begin their holiday to the United States, visiting New York City. They visit the Statue of Liberty and look out over the city from the World Trade Centre's indoor observatory. Tents in Montauk Park serve as their accommodation and they interact with their American counterparts at an outdoor meal. The group move on to Washington DC where they tour the city (often in uniform), visiting Arlington Cemetery, the White House, the Washington Monument, the Capitol building and a McDonald's restaurant. When not sightseeing, the guides swim in the waters off Long Island and enjoy a day at Great Adventure amusement park. The film ends with images of the holidaymakers leaving the homes of their guest families.
