Summary

Scenes of a cruise ship and a family holiday to Guernica and Bilbao, in the Basque Country, followed by views of Oxford and a castle in the UK.

Description

This film shows a series of ships filmed from the deck of another vessel, where the film-maker's family relax. The dining room and other areas of the ship are filmed, along with some of the other passengers. The film then cuts to street scenes in a Bilbao (?), followed by scenes of a beach and the film-maker's family visiting a dock with shots of the quayside and ships. Images of Bilbao cathedral are followed by cross-faded shots of the local scenery (seen in double exposure).

A close-up of a signpost between Bilbao and Guernica, is followed by Images of a rocky coastline and the family visiting a market. The next scenes show a group of young people in regional costume dancing together on a stage or platform.

The film then cuts to scenes of a group of people outside a large building set in landscaped grounds (perhaps a college) in Oxford. The film then cuts to the film-maker's wife being photographed reading, whilst sat in the grass within grounds of a castle, accompanied by views of the castle from the grounds. The film closes with shots of the Woodward family on board another ship at sea.
