Summary

An amateur film showing events throughout the school's calendar starting at Christmas and ending at Christmas.

Description

Animated title: ‘Children at play’. Christmas decorations at school. Pottery and sewing classes are seen. An animal handler gives a demonstration with animals, including a monkey, which the children pet. A clown entertainer arrives in a car (MXC 995)and perfoms in the school hall.

A bus picks up children for a school trip abroad and we see them return by train. Next we see sports day and the long jump event. The children go on a summer picnic. Back at school a netball match is underway. Scenes of ‘Claygate Manor Farm’ and ‘Elm Farm’.

Claygate village and school exterior is shown and the children visit a Zoo and see elephs to a zoo and the IOWants, goats, a bear, a leopard, a lion and flamingos.

Back at the school children line-up for a class portrait. Activities for the May Festival follow: playground games, maypole dancing, parade, crowing of the May Queen, country dancing, more maypole dancing, morris dancing. Summer sports day follows with many races and prizes.

Next is a school trip to the Isle of Wight arriving at Ryde. A sign reads ‘Ryde esplanade’. A visit to Osborne House and a ferry back to Portsmouth. The group board the train at ‘Portsmouth Harbour Station’.

The film finshes with a school Christmas play. Many decorations and handicraft exhibits are on display along with a plastic Christmas tree.
