A compilation of items filmed by Joseph Emberton of his wife and daughters on various outings, including; trips to the races, at a drag hunt and on a picnic.
The film opens in very faded colour with scenes of crowds at the Derby Stakes at Epsom race track. Shots include the stands, a band playing for the crowds, various bookies' boards, and people enjoying the day. Kathleen Emberton walks away from the bookies, possibly after just placing a bet. Further views follow of the stands, horses racing, and crowds watching.
The family with some other relatives then attend the start of a drag hunt at Aldershot where Kathleen and her two young daughters, Jocelyn and Gillian, watch the hunters. Now in black and white, the horses and hounds head off and the family sit at a table to have a picnic.
Scenes of a horse show event at Chobham includes horses, attempting jumps, some filmed in slow motion. Back in faded colour, Kathleen, the girls, and their nanny are seen in the countryside in Midhurst, by a pond and in woods picking wild flowers. Joseph Emberton is also filmed picking wild flowers with the girls. The family with their nanny and with a young boy then have a picnic at Cowdray Park, Midhurst, amongst a herd of deer. Close up shots of a stag and of the deer grazing are interspersed with shots of the group having their picnic. A visit to a lido includes various scenes of people sun bathing on a grassy slope, diving from a platform and the girls playing by the pool side. Final scenes are of Royal Ascot, including scenes of the arrival of dignitaries in coaches and a view of the Royal Enclosure.
