A film about the Ramsgate Hovercraft service as it celebrates a million passengers and 120,000 vehicles carried since the service began on the 6th April 1966.

The film opens with views of the Ramsgate International Hoverport and a re-enactment of the arrival of the Viking longship 'Hugin' with the replica seen on the cliff top at Pegwell Bay. The SR.N4 GH-2004 hovercraft operated by Hoverlloyd arrives and the crew, passengers and vehicles depart. The crew then begin to load the waiting vehicles and passengers onto the next cross-channel service to Calais. The doors are closed, the vertical fans rotate, the air-cushion inflates and the hovercraft glides across the flats to the sea. Views of the channel and seabirds follow until a returning hovercraft arrives.

Crowds gather for a celebration with many different mini-hovercraft models offering fun rides across the flats.

The GH-2005 Hoverlloyd arrives from Calais and again we see crew and passengers depart. Baggage is unloaded from the hold. Vehicles drive off, new passengers board, and vehicles and baggage trucks are driven on-board. The hovercraft makes ready for departure and moves off across the flats and out to sea. Closing title: The End.
