Summary

Film of a visit to the seaside attractions of Southend shows a mother and son on the pier, at the amusements and on the beach.

Description

The film shows the shore end of Southend's mile long pier and seafront. Mother and son walk along a street; the mother is then seen being weighed on jockey scale.

Further seafront amusements include the boats on the Pavilion Lakes and see shops selling ice cream. They visit Louis Tussauds waxworks on the replica Golden Hind.

They travel onboard the pier railway before walking amongst the amusements on the pier. Shots on the beach show holiday makers in deck chairs and children swimming in the sea. In a domestic garden, mother and son smile for the camera and say cheers with a cup of tea.
