This short home movie featuring the Brocklehurst children picking flowers with their mother in a wood near Sedlescombe, East Sussex. The family are then seen at Gainsborough on VE Day; the children help their father hoist a Union Jack flag to celebrate.
The film opens with a Mrs Brocklehurst and her children picking orchids in a wood behind a house called "Milestones" belonging to the children's grandmother. They walk along a narrow path to the house carrying bunches of wild flowers; grainy shots of the garden and exterior of the house. A young girl, with the help of her father climbs onto the roof of Mercer's Mill at Gainsborough and hoists a Union Jack flag; shots of the surrounding countryside. Shots of a busy street scene; flags fly from the buildings to mark VE Day. Shots of a Cleethorpes Pier (a section is missing); the family collects shells from the beach and build a sandcastle.
