Collection Cyril Hayworth pt2
A further collection of Cyril Hayworth's Scouting and Guiding films, including: fetes, parades camps and events. The films show Haywards Heath, Balcombe, Slaugham, Forest Hill, and Sydenham branches within larger county camps. The collection also includes film of the wedding of his friends Mr and Mrs Forster.

During the Second World War, Cyril Hayworth made several films documenting the activities of both Scouting and Guiding groups from the Forest Hill and Sydenham areas of Greater London, with a handful of these films including material of war-time scenes of bombed out houses and churches, as well as the Scouts parading and marching between district parish churches.
Following the Second World War, Hayworth relocated to Sussex and spent time working as a Scoutmaster documenting his, and many other, Scouting and Guiding groups in the district, through parades, camps and other local events across Sussex, along with close friend and fellow Haywards Heath Scoutleader and Scoutmaster, Vic Forster.

[Lingfield Scouting Event; Go-Cart Race]

This film shows a Scout camp including: a group of Scouts around the camp flagpoles; portraits of family members; Scouts making pizza in a field kitchen; portraits of boys in camp with several adults; a group meal; tidying camp; an improvised shower; a camp flag pole; boys slicing bread, with the slices being blown away by the wind; washing dishes and cleaning camp. The final part shows a Scout peddle Go-Cart race on a racetrack [?].
Garden; Archers; Balcombe Road]
A film showing a group of Guiding leaders in a garden [out of focus], followed by a group of Brownies and Guides being presented with awards by a member of the cast from the BBC Radio programme 'The Archers', closing with portrait shots and a parade [out of focus due to a storm]. The final film shows a group of Scouts doing exercises and gymnastics in a garden, followed by afternoon tea and jousting style games using a wheelbarrow.
[Scout Camp; Cricket]
This film shows a Cub Scout camp near Ardingly, with the boys putting up tents and messing about by pretending to use a pile of tents as a high-jump landing mat. A Scout leader is seen doing his laundry in a bucket. The Scouts and families are shown playing a game of cricket and eating a meal, whilst two older Boy Scouts attempt to fix a car in a field (CS 3488).
[Parade; Camp; South Downs Hike]
A film showing a district parade with Scouts and Guides, marching through Haywards Heath to Muster Green, welcomed by friends and family. The 1st Haywards Heath Scouts board a coach in Haywards Heath with their kit, This is followed by shots of the exterior of 'The Broadway' theatre as the coach passes by. On arrival, the Scouts build a camp, and drink tea with friends and family. The final scene shows a hike across the South Downs.

A film featuring the Mid-Sussex Division Girl Guides Coronation Rally held at Beech Hurst. The film includes: several parades; Beech Hurst model railway; event opening speeches by Miss Byer, [Girl Guide Island Commissioner for Grenada, West Indies]; Guard of Honour of Colours and Standard; a Scout display; a demonstration of Weight Lifting by the Archer Bartbell Club; and fairytale storytelling play with dancing.
[Chief Scout Visit to Chailey]

A film that features Chief Scout, Lord Rowallan visiting Chailey Heritage School meeting the Chailey School Scouts and Guides. Lord Rowallan tours the school buildings, visiting outdoor beds, the 'Kinnaird Speech Room' and watches an opening ceremony for a Cub Scout and Guide hut at the Chailey Windmill within the grounds. The film closes with Lord Rowallan talking to a group of young Cubs about a neckerchief woggle.

This film shows several parades by the Haywards Heath District Scouts. The first is at St Giles Church, Hortsed Keynes. The second at St Wilfrid's Church, with a gathering on Muster Green. The next section shows Autumn scenes featuring woodland and Balcombe Viaduct, followed by Spring flowers; ending with another parade.
[HH Cub & Scouts Camp]
This edited film shows a series of scenes featuring the 1st Haywards Heath Wolf Cubs and Boy Scouts in a field camp, playing sports and preparing several meals - one with a clay oven. The film also shows a family group posing for portraits in a domestic garden and closes with a compilation of shots of several flowers in a garden.

An amateur film documenting a trio of Scouting events at Sutton Park in Birmingham - The World Scout Jubilee Jamboree, A World Rover Moot and A World Scouters Indaba. The events share the same site, split into three sections and opened by HRH Henry Duke of Gloucester and visited by HM The Queen, Elizabeth II and HRH Prince Philip.

This edited film shows the Haywards Heath Rover Scouts at various camping activities. This includes: making ready for a camp; playing a game of rounders; at a camp near Penshurst [?]; and Lady Burnham opening the new Brownie and Guide Hut in Burgess Hill in October 1957.
[Haywards Heath Church Service Parade]
This film shows a company of Guides and Brownies sat in a circle on Muster Green, listening to a Guide leader, followed by a group singing session. Various parades on Lindfield High Street include the 5th Crawley St Peter's Company and other Guides groups, plus Scouts from Haywards Heath, and Horsted Keynes. A marching band leads a Guide group down a street [Burgess Hill?], followed by various parades and inspections.
[Haywards Heath Guides and Scouts' Church Parade]
This film shows a large gathering of Mid Sussex Division of Guides and Scouts on Muster Green, accompanied by a marching band. A parade of Guides and Scouts are led by a marching band through the town. The group stop outside St Wilfrid's Church before entering the Churchyard. The film ends with several ministers and clergy greeting the senior Guiding leaders.
[Bolney Scouting Parade; Haywards Heath Scout Event]
This edited film shows a Bolney Scout and Wolf cub parade led by a marching band outside St Mary Magdalene Church. The final section shows a Haywards Heath Scout demonstration or recruitment event, showing Scouting games, food, rope construction activities and trophies awarded to the troop laid out on a table.

A film showing a Girl Guide camp with camp activities that includes cooking food, chopping firewood, campfire sing-song with actions, fancy dress parade and panorama shots of the rural landscape and a stately home at the edge of the camp.
