Collection Bob Burns
A collection of family films by Amateur film-maker Bob Burns, from the late 1950s to mid 1970s. Films includes holidays to the Balearic Islands and several Butlin's and Warner holiday camps in the UK. Other films show a collection of weddings at North Bersted Parish Church (West Sussex) and a series of family outings and group trips by Royal Oak Pub Darts club.

This collection dating from the late 1950s to mid 1970s features the family of Bob Burns enjoying several family holidays to a series of Butlin's Holiday camps that includes Wick Ferry, Skegness, Minehead, Clacton-on-Sea and the Warners Woodside Bay camp on the Isle of Wight. Other holidays include a visit to The Tropicana, a former lido in Weston-super-Mare and a holiday to the Baleric Island of Mallorca.
Closer to home, Burns captured outings by the Darts club from a local pub, the Royal Oak. The group regularly took a Southdown coach to Maidenhead, to take trips on the river towards Windsor, Reading and later the Isle of Wight.
The films also show highlights of Bognor Carnival, a Pram race for Rag Week, a series of weddings at North Bersted Parish Church, and family gatherings featuring the Burns' children, at a South Bersted Cricket Match, playing in a domestic garden and with friends and family at Christmas time.

This short film shows two brief scenes, the first shows a pram or Canaval float on a street, followed by scenes of a woman and two children, playing with a tricycle, mowing the lawn with an engine driven lawn mower and playing on play equipment; that includes a seesaw with a large group of children. The film closes with shots of a bird nesting in a large pile of pale coloured bricks.

An amateur film showing a family holiday to a Butlin's Holiday camp in Minehead, that includes views of a family group aboard a boat, playing in the playground and on fairground amusement rides at the holiday camp (continued from TID: 6401), followed by a game of golf.
[Darts Outing: Chessington Zoo]
An amateur film showing a Burns family outing with the Royal Oak Darts club to Chessington Zoo, Surrey. The family board a green Southdown coach following a brief stop at the Southdown Buffet room, for drinks and ice cream. At the Zoo the family visit several of the animal enclosures, the playground area and ride on the Go-Karts. Scenes also show a Scottish marching band on parade and the Guinness Festival Clock (or Guinness Time Piece) in the park.

The Royal Oak Dart Club annual outing is featured in this amateur film from 1962. Members of the club set off from North Bersted on a coach to Maidenhead. The men are seen eating their lunch and taking a boat ride on the River Thames between Maidenhead and Reading.

[Ena & Colin’s Wedding]
This brief film shows Ena & Collin's wedding at North Bersted parish church, that includes two men wearing carnations in their button holes standing on a street near two decorated 1960s, pastel coloured cars. The film closes with a group portrait with three bridesmaids in floor-length red dresses standing outside a house, and the bride and groom entering and exiting the church posing for photographs.

An amateur film from the mid 1960s featuring a new year party at the Royal Oak pub in North Bersted, near Bognor Regis. High-spirited partygoers drink, dance and interact with the film-maker, most wearing fancy dress and party hats.

A short Burns family home movie from the 1960s featuring the celebration of a child's christening. The film also includes scenes of other Burns children taking part in a Bognor area Scouting parade and playing with a toy cart in the garden at their home.
[Ena & Colin’s Wedding: The Reception]
This short film shows scenes from Ena and Colin's wedding reception. Food is presented on a long table with the tiered wedding cake and the bridesmaid’s flower bouquets, on a small table beside it. Guests gather to watch the bride and groom cut the cake, and the wedding party dance on the dance floor [Continuation of the wedding on TID: 6408; TID: 6419].
[South Bersted Cricket Match]
The South Bersted Cricket Club take part in a 'single wicket knockout' competition at their home ground during the 1960s. [continued on TID: 6420; additional scenes on TID: 6387].

Various family scenes that includes shots of a ship at sea, followed by scenes of the Burns children in a garden playing cricket; and a toddler girl stands in the garden feeding a dog a biscuit through a fence - the scenes are filmed from an upstairs window.
