This collection includes films relating to the lives of British businessmen Austin Reed and Ken Wood, along with mixed family gatherings, weddings and holiday films photographed from the 1930s to the 1970s.

This collection features family material from two significant British business dynasties - Ken Wood and Austin Reed.
Kenneth (Ken) Wood established an electrical firm in the 1940s and went on to launch the highly successful Kenwood Chef food mixer in 1950. The mixer became an iconic design as well as a key appliance in British kitchens and internationally, across the 1950s and 1960s.
Austin L. Reed opened his first store on Fenchurch Street in the City of London in 1900, shortly followed by two others at 5 St Mary Axe and 157 Cheapside; and in 1911, the iconic flagship Regent Street store, selling men's ready-to-wear clothing in addition to the bespoke tailoring services.
These two family collections are now connected through marriage. The films in the collection date from the 1930s to the 1970s and include various branches of the families. The films show family events and outings as well as foreign holidays and yachting trips. There are also glimpses of the two businesses in the collections including a promotional event for 'The Kenwood Chef' and scenes at the Austin Reed Regent Street store.

This colour family holiday film shows highlights of a trip to the Hotel Agiua-Blava and Sevile in Spain, with shots of several beaches and a trip to a bullring to watch a bullfight. The second part of the film shows the family on a trip to Paris visiting several landmarks including the Eiffel Tower, to capture views of the city.
A.B. Hols [Family Holiday to Catalonia]
This film shows a family travelling by car to the Aigua-Blava Playa de Fornells Resort, in Spain via ferry and car. The family stop to have a picnic, admire views of the countryside, visit several beaches and tour local towns and villages. In the second part of the film the family visit Barcelona.
[East Africa Road Trip]
This colour film provides highlights of a group on safari through Kenya, passing through several national parks and hunting lodges. By road, a group tour a coastal resort near Mombasa, crossing the Mtwapa bridge to continue through several Nature Reserves, filming wild animals and the rural landscape from a moving car.
[Italy: Venice; Lake Garda]
This compilation for holiday film shows highlights of a family holiday to Italy, touring Lake Garda and Venice by Gondola on the Grand Canal. In Venice the family visit a glass factory in Murano, and tour the Piazza San Marco, and Basillica. The film is inter-cut with shots of the family home and garden in England.
This colour film follows a family on holiday in Sierra Leone, stopping off in Gran Canaria to await a transfer flight en route. The film shows views of the local landscape filmed from their car, the group relaxing at their holiday accommodation and visiting several beaches as they travel.

This colour film shows the family at Bridge Farm in Somerset and on holiday in Essex visiting the coastline at Frinton-on-Sea and Walton-on-the-Naze. Later in the film the family visit Angmering-on-Sea in West Sussex, returning home early due to the wet weather.

This film documents Ken Wood's business trip and sightseeing activities in San Francisco, California and Adelaide in Australia. The film shows Ken with a group on several beaches and aboard a boat. They also visit a Kenwood Factory in Adelaide, Australia with exterior views of the factory and offices ending with views from onboard an aircraft from Adelaide Airport.
[Mombasa Yacht Club Golden Jubilee; Tsavro Safari and Victoria Falls]
This film shows the Mombasa Yacht Club Golden Anniversary celebration with games and a regatta display with the attendees dressed in fancy dress clothing from 1910. The next part of the film shows a family group on safari touring various national parks in Kenya, a tea plantation owned by the Brook Bond Group and a brief visit the Victoria Falls in Zambia.

This film shows an extended family holiday to the Balearic Islands in Spain, travelling between the island resorts. The family visit several beaches, and villages capturing the views of everyday island life.

This colour film shows scenes of the family at Bridge Farm and on a holiday to Spain, visiting the Costa Brava.
Garden Scenes; Glenesk House Sports Day; Canford School Boat Club]
This edited family film shows the family during the Glenesk House Preparatory School sports day event, with the children participating in races and events. The next section shows a cricket match on a village green followed by the Canford School Boat club rowing on the River Thames at Barnes, and travelling via train from Woking on a trip to Bournemouth (?).
Mr K. M. Wood’s Visit to Bombay
Businessmen, including Kenneth Wood, travel to Mumbai and visit the Mulchandani Electrical and Radio Industries Ltd factory in November 1966. They are given guided tours around the factory by Mr RL Mulchandani and his sons. They are taken on a visit to a temple and are entertained with dancing in the evening. Indian music plays over the film.
[Holiday in Spain]
This family holiday film to Sevile and Andalucia in Spain includes a visit to a Bull ring to watch several bull fights, take a boat trip on a river and tour the rural landscape by car. The film closes with portrait shots of a teenage girl posing or the camera in the family garden.
