Description

The collection comprises a series of one off and longer compilations of films held by Screen Archive South East, re edited and reworked into productions used in screenings, talks, museum and gallery displays and for online promotional purposes on the Screen Archive South East website.

These original works highlight popular themes from across the region, from the Hop pickers in Kent, leisure time activities in Chichester, Eastbourne, the Witterings and Bosham Harbour, life in the region during World War 2; alongside a series of newly created works by staff and students at the University of Brighton and the University of Sussex, using material supplied and sourced by Screen Archive South East.

This collection also highlights content that is key to exploring a region or event through film. "Maidstone on Film", one of the longest in the collection at just over an hour long, chronicles events surrounding 'The Maidstone Zoo' and 'The Chegworth Watermill', providing a significant character study of Maidstone and the surrounding areas, provides a great example of the collections range.
