A compilation of amateur films detailing the travels and living experiences of a White-European family in Burma (now Myanmar) and Egypt during the mid-1930s. Various film sections have been edited together in a random order, and the resulting sequence is therefore not linear.
Scenes filmed by Mr. and Mrs. Rudd while on a caravan tour of Scotland, passing over rivers and through the mountainous landscape, taking picnics on the coast and camping by lochs.
Cruise to Norway
Three reels of film with intertitles which document a family holiday to Norway.
This short intertitled black and white film shows the events of the Royal Highland Games at Braemar. The Royal household are seen arriving, followed by the procession of the clans, dancing and a wrestling competition. The film closes with the Royal party - HM King George V, HM Queen Mary, the Duke and Duchess of York and their daughter HRH Princess Elizabeth leaving by carriage.

This film shows a voyage by Lord and Lady Baden-Powell visiting troops and companies of Scouts and Guides as they cruise the Baltic on the SS Calgaric for an ‘Argosy of Peace’. The film includes scenic views of the nations visited, with welcome parades and greetings by dignitaries, national costumes and uniforms, speeches, processions, dances, games and meals.
[Christmas Cruise - Trip to Africa]
A film by Joseph Emberton of a cruise on board the Cap Arcona with his wife, Kathleen, and friends to Morocco at Christmas time, travelling via Tenerife, Madeira, and Portugal.
This edited and intertitled travelogue film shows a cruise from Folkestone, England to the Stubai Valley, near Innsbruck, in Austria. The film also includes descriptive intertitles highlighting local agricultural processes, regional customs, and traditional Tyrolean dress. The film shows views of the rural mountainous villages of Mieders and Fulpmes in Tyrol. The final section shows the film-makers returning to the UK via ship.
Boat Trip; MS Stella Polaris
Film by Ralph Staley of a cruise with his wife Nellie aboard the Norwegian liner MS Stella Polaris. They stop at the port of Stockholm, and Copenhagen amongst other destinations. On board, deck coits and other games are played, passengers relax on deck, and Nellie is seen washing in their cabin and looking out to sea from a window. A Finnish boat/plane (OH-ALK) is seen leaving the shoreline adjacent to the ship at one of the stops.

This amateur film contains images of animals, notably extreme close-ups of caterpillars and their larvae, and of a woman feeding doves. It also has footage of two holidays - the first is a touring holiday of the Welsh countryside, the second a city break to Brugge.

The first half of this film with intertitles captures images of the Tarn River and of apple harvesting in France. The second half chronicles the Bedouin Arabs of Tunisia, recording aspects of their nomadic lifestyle, including their pottery and food-making skills.

This record of a trip to India also contains footage of sea travel, by liner, via Port Said in Egypt and Aden in Yemen. It documents an elephant ride, many street scenes, one featuring a snake charmer, and images of the harbours passed on the journey.
