Leaving London during a heat wave, they make their way to Brighton, Broadstairs, Ovingdean and Eastbourne to swim, dance, chatter and enjoy the Palace Pier's amusements.

Two films of the Emberton family on holiday in Polzeath in the Summers of 1938 and 1939. Both films feature several scenes of the two children, Jocelyn and Gillian and their mother Kathleen on the beach, paddling and swimming in the water. Kathleen is filmed surfing/body boarding on a simple wooden board, and the family go on a fishing trip.
