Element of Grace
Amateur film-maker Ray Young, a member of Eastbourne Cine Group, films members of St. Leonards Amateur Swimming Club in 1952 as they demonstrate front crawl, butterfly, back crawl and spectacular diving techniques at St. Leonards Bathing Pool, a lido built in the 1930s by Sydney Little, "the Concrete King".

A compilation showing Brighton Swimming Club members on the beach, dressed in fancy dress and in drag, pretending to 'shave' other swimmers whilst pinning them down and then dunking them in the sea. The group go on a road trip visiting Monaco and Spain (Barcelona?) where they take in the sights; swim and water ski; see traditional dancers and watch a bullfight. At the airport, they film two cars being loaded onto a Bristol Freighter plane through its nose doors.

Scenes filmed at The Tropicana (Weston-super-Mare Lido) in the late 1950s by Bob Burns while on a family holiday to Somerset (also on 6380). Men perform spectacular dives into the pool from George Pollard's 1937 diving boards, arching over the poolside.

This film shows the family on holiday at the Pontin's resort of Barton Hall, Torquay with outdoor views of a beauty pageant, pool area and playing fields in front of the hotel. The children play on a water slide, in a paddling pool, and take part in a fancy dress parade and mock-coronation style entertainment ceremony. The film is inter cut with a family excursion on a guided river boat tour.
