SASE Archivist Ine van Dooren presents:

In the spirit of this year of UK ‘Votes for Women’ 100 years celebrations, Ine van Dooren, SASE Archivist, coordinates an all-day event for the Magic Lantern Society Autumn Meeting on 20 October at the Birmingham and Midland Institute.

To celebrate the women in the MLS, eighteen female members deliver presentations on their research topics and collection knowledge, others perform and put on a variety of lantern shows.

Ine will present ‘A Match Maiden’s Tale’, based on the magic lantern slide series: A Little Match Girl https://www.slides.uni-trier.de/set/index.php?id=3002615  but instead of presenting this tragic Victorian tale in its historical setting, she has created a modern version where the heroin is a free spirit, wilful and joyous.

The Magic Lantern Society has an international membership reflecting the interest in Lantern Heritage and related types of visual media. Annual meetings keep these media alive through research and shows.  For more info http://www.magiclantern.org.uk
