Summary

Ministry of Home Security Training Film

Description

The film covers two aspects of the technical work of rescue parties, the use of ladders, and the recovery of casualties from behind an obstruction. General training work with ropes and ladders is shown. Methods of lowering stretchers down ladders are shown. Means of recovering stretcher cases over a high timber wall are demonstrated using combinations of sheerlegs, jibs and derricks assembled from poles and ropes. Finally the careful jacking up of a brick wall to remove a trapped casualty (a dummy) is demonstrated - careless use of jacking equipment results in the wall toppling.
