Summary

A miller and chimney sweep collide as moving sails of the windmill behind provide an animated backdrop in this 1897 George Albert Smith production.

Description

A miller in white with a sack of flour over his shoulder walks towards the camera, away from the windmill behind. A chimney sweep dressed in dark clothes and carrying a bag of soot knocks into him and the two break into a fight. The miller hits the sweep with his bag of white flour, the sweep with his bag of black soot. The film closes with a crowd running past after the the pair.

The Barnes Collection

Location: Hove Museum and Art Gallery Twins John and William Barnes founded the Barnes Museum of Cinematography in the 1960s. After the closure, the early part of the collection moved to Hove. The collection includes cameras, projectors and material relating to the Brighton School of film pioneers.
