Scenes filmed by Joan and family members, that includes scenes with Joan at home with her parents in Dymchurch and on a family holiday to Wales, in 1959 - 1960.
A couple climb over a wide gate, separating a field from the countryside beyond. They wave to the camera before climbing a second gate. Another older couple stand for portraits then climb into a Morris Traveller car parked on a lane. A long portrait show shows Joan walking on the sandy beach at Dymchurch, looking out at the water, followed by a village scene showing a young woman, wearing a pink head scarf, carrying a fishing rod from the house in the garden.
The next section shows the family on an outing to the rural Welsh countryside, with wide landscape and river views of fields, stone bridges and a waterfall, where the family pose for portraits. Joan films a young man below a bridge and a waterfall. On a beach, a man walks with a young boy away from the shoreline, as a small sailing boat moors further up the beach behind them. The man skips across a beach, kicking a football with several boys. The film ends with a portrait of family members sitting together by a stone wall on the sand.
