Summary

Footage taken by Gladys Bishop, of her granddaughter mowing the lawn at her home in Mulgrave Road, Sutton Surrrey, and her grandchildren performing a dance in animal and period costume at a fete in around 1955.

Description

Yellow roses grow beside a red brick house. Under direction from her grandfather, a young teenage girl mows a bright green lawn in brown leather shoes and white socks. She strides across the grass in one direction, before swinging the mower around to cut the next section. Deep flower beds, well tended and in bloom, border the lawn. Red and yellow roses and lilac hollyhocks grow by the patio. At a fete, women in patterned dresses sit at a bench to watch children perform dances in fancy dress costumes. Some are dressed in period costume, others in full animal costume, as white and brown rabbits and bears, skipping in a circle.
