Summary

This short black and white film provides highlights of several ship workers hauling a ship on pulleys and ropes into the Solent, with views of the Ratsey and Lapthorn sail-making building on the same dockyard.

Description

The film opens with views of the Camper and Nicholsons shipyard and Ratsey and Lapthorn building with text 'Ratsey & Lapthorn Sailmakers' adjacent to the dockyard. A group of workers prepare to haul a yacht out of the Camper and Nicholsons boat shed on the edge of the water. They use rope to pull the vessel along a track over a slipway, which leads to the water. Slowly, the boat emerges from the warehouse and launches into the Solent. Portrait shots of two men taken from images or photographs from a magazine end the film (possibly shots of John Nicholson and partner).
