An amateur film of a Horrobin family camping holiday to Bognor Regis. The family visit the beach and Butlins holiday camp, as well as taking trips to Pagham Harbour and Portsmouth. The film-maker often uses interesting angles and editing choices to tell the story of the holiday.
The film opens with a shot of a road sign reading 'Bognor 72'. Filmed from the rear seat of a car, we see a young girl and boy helping to load luggage into the boot. Next is a shot of a sign for 'Lidsey Farm Caravan Park' in Bognor Regis. There is a close-up of the car wheel as it parks in a field, followed by shots of the car being unloaded and the family pitching their tent. They sit at a fold-up table by the tent and eat sausages, and the boy is seen playing on a swing.
At the beach, the girl is seen pulling on flip-flops, and the boy plays with a toy boat in the shallows. There are several shots taken in the water, with a pier visible in the back ground, and the girl playing on an inflatable ring. Back at the campsite, there are shots of the children playing cricket. The children go for a walk along a bridle path with a woman. There are shots of pheasant and the girl smelling flowers. The children look at a map with the woman, and both turn and point in opposite directions. There is a close-up shot over the woman's shoulder of the map, and the camera pans left and right. After several more shots of the path, the family are seen returning to the car, but from different directions. There is a shot of a National Trust sign for Slindon, near Arundel. We see a house with ducks on a pond. The boy is seen throwing stones into the water, and the family feed the ducks biscuits.
A panning shot shows the exterior of Butlins Holiday Camp in Bognor Regis. A Redcoat passes by with a group of children. There are shots of a boating lake, and the boy and girl playing on swings in a playground. There are also shots of swimming pools, a roller coaster, fairground rides and a hall of mirrors. At Pagham Harbour the Horrobin children are seen with the woman. They use binoculars to watch birds on the mud flats. The boy is seen playing with a kite.
There is a brief shot of the girl back at the campsite, followed by shots from a moving car. We then see footage of a visit to Portsmouth, including a ride on a boat, and footage of ships of various sizes including the nuclear submarine HMS Conqueror. The film ends with another shot of the Lidsey Farm Caravan Park sign, and a road sign that reads 'End'.
