Summary

Scenes of a building after a fire and an Inex Motion Picture comedy sketch, produced by Jack Ellam in the 1930s.

Description

Gulls fly above moored boats in a harbour. "Bushey Fire Brigade" is seen on the side of a fire truck. Fire damage to a building is seen. There are no windows or roof, and the steel girders have collapsed. Rubble covers the ground and the brick of the walls is exposed. A toy boat is seen moving through the water. A fiction film follows.

A title card reads "Inex Motion Pictures Presents... The Joke." Intertitles follow; "Papa loved peace BUT... MAMMA loved picnics and so..." A man carrying an assortment of picnic baskets, cases, a cricket bat and a flask emerges from a house. A woman sits in the passenger seat of a motorcar, with to young boys in the back seat. "Hurry!" He throws the picnic equipment into the car in an exaggerated fashion.
