Summary

This family film includes the seafront at Eastbourne, a visit to Bibury, and a boat ride on the River Coln. The film ends with a series of family portraits of men in RAF and US Army uniforms and scenes at a wedding.

Description

This film opens with views of Eastbourne seafront with a crowd gathered on the promenade and seated within Eastbourne Bandstand adjacent to Eastbourne Pier, closing with panorama shots of Eastbourne Pier and the seafront.

The next section opens with a series of group family portraits in a large garden (?) where the group walk towards the camera arm-in-arm, and posing together in deck chairs and a swing lounger.

The film then cuts to Bibury including scenes filmed from onboard a boat on the River Coln, shots of the group outside The Swan Hotel and the ruins of a large building (Minster Lovell Hall and Dovecote?). At the seaside a group of children swim and paddle in the sea, playing on an inflatable boat and walking along the beach with the adults. The scene closes with a portrait shot of a boy shivering on the shoreline.

The Reed family gather in a garden to pose for the camera, including Austin Reed, his wife and their children. Two couples walk up and down sandbag lined steps and through the garden, posing for the camera. One of the men is in a GI uniform and another injured man is in an RAF uniform.

The next section compilation provides a series of portrait views of several of the families pets in a garden accompanied by Stella and her two boys, closing with a montage of family portraits.

The final section in this compilation features the Reed family in attendance at a wedding including shots of several men and women dressed in armed forces uniforms, leaving a church closely followed by Austin Reed. The last film sequence features views from on board a boat on the River Thames near Windsor Castle (?).
