A compilation of scenes around Brighton in the 1960s, in black and white and colour, mainly focusing on entertainment and the seafront, activities and events including: the West Pier and the Palace Pier, the Dome, Brighton Pavilion and Brighton’s parks and gardens.
The film includes various scenes of people at the beach, the waterfront and the promenade. Children at the ‘Kings Road Paddling Pool’ and people on The Volk's Railway are followed by scenes of people on the dodgems and helter-skelter and other fair ground rides. Events taking place in Brighton are shown including: a gas balloon ride in the pavilion gardens, a ‘London to Brighton Safari Race’, the ‘Road to Hong Kong Rick Shaw Relay Race’, Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh visiting Brighton, historic vehicles on the London to Brighton veteran car run, an ‘Historic Commercial Vehicle Club’ event and an 'Historic Motor Cycles' event on Madeira Drive.
Scenes of Brighton continue with the antique and ‘Bric-a-brac’ shops in Brighton’s Lanes area, the art market on the promenade, Preston Park and Victoria Gardens and men painting their fishing boats on the beach. The film then turns to showing another side to life in Brighton including a homeless man on the streets, a demonstration by CND members, demolition of houses and newly built 1960s blocks of flats, a religious meeting on the beach, scenes marking the introduction of parking meters and motorists protesting about parking charges.
A final section leaves Brighton and records an outing to Barcombe Mills, including: the railway station, the ‘Anglers Rest’ pub, the railway crossing, children playing in mud, scenes of the countryside and the river, views from a rowing boat and a man riding a scooter.
