Summary

A home movie compilation which includes footage of Scouts, Cubs and Rangers on camping trips; events at Hastings over a Bank Holiday weekend; a visit to London and a holiday in France.

Description

The film opens with footage of a Scouts camping trip. The boys are filmed in the outdoors, cooking over an open fire, eating and washing. Cubs are later seen at their tent site, where they walk on stilts and have boxing and wrestling matches. Rangers are filmed cooking their food on an open fire and collecting water from a well.

Film taken at Hastings Lido show it is busy with people over the Bank Holiday weekend. They also crowd the beach and the promenade. A parade of floats traverses the seafront. Children are awarded prizes in a fancy dress competition before girls entertain the crowds with a folk dance. Spectators watch as a cyclist and a rollerskater race around a circuit, competing to out-speed each other.

A visit to London sees some of the city's landmarks being filmed, including Victoria Station, Westminster Abbey and the guards at Buckingham Palace. The film ends with footage of a trip to Le Touquet in France, where cars are loaded by crane onto a ship.
