The Mayor of Hastings officiates at the opening of Torfield School, Hastings. Speeches are given to an assembled crowd before the school doors are officially unlocked and a plaque is unveiled inside to commemorate the opening.

The mayoral car arrives at the school and the mayor is greeted by a crowd of people. Guests are seated outside the school; smartly dressed men, including the mayor, make speeches from a raised platform. A photographer takes photos as the men pose with the key to unlock the door of the school. People are ushered into the school, where a Union Jack flag is removed to unveil a plaque: "County Borough of Hastings Education Committee. This school was opened by Alderman S.S. Riddle M.B.E. 2nd June 1965". A photographer takes photos of the unveiling ceremony as the film concludes. Title: "The End".
