Summary

Andrew and Sally-Ann, aged around 14 and 12, perform spectacular diving and gymnastic routines at an outdoor pool on the Isle of Wight with their mother and father, the man behind the camera, in 1976.

Description

At an outdoor pool in summer, children dive into the water from a diving platform. Sally-Ann, aged around 12, performs backwards somersaults into the pool. Her brother Andrew, aged around 14, dives in with her. Further dives are performed by other children at the pool, from the pool side and the diving platform. Andrew and Sally-Ann perform backwards cartwheels and handstands by the pool. Children swim, and dive and bomb into the turquoise water. Their mother is seen, swimming backstroke across the pool. Families sit together on the grass verge behind. Adults leapfrog over one another and participate in sack races on the grass. Teenage girls hide their faces from the camera as they sunbathe. Further backwards dives are performed at the pool. The children's mother lies under a tree, wearing a black bikini and sunglasses. Sally-Ann, wearing a white leotard, practices complicated gymnastic moves with ease on the grass, waving to the camera.
